Material testing and sample preparation
Material testing and sample preparation
Material testing
Material testing involves investigating the behavior of material samples or finished components under mechanical, thermal or chemical stresses. MTU offers both static and dynamic material testing procedures.
You can choose from the following material testing procedures:
- Destructive material tests
- Thermo-mechanical fatigue tests
- Crack propagation
- Procedures for testing low cycle fatigue (LCF) and high cycle fatigue (HCF)

Static material testing
MTU covers a wide range of static material testing procedures:
- Tension testing
- Thermal tension testing
- Creep rupture testing and creep testing
- Fracture toughness testing
- Testing of adhesive tensile strength
- Hardness testing
Dynamic material testing
MTU covers a wide range of dynamic material testing procedures.
We have the following equipment available:
- 14 test machines for low cycle fatigue (LCF) up to 1,100°C
- 4 test machines for high cycle fatigue (HCF) up to 1,100°C
